Lulehe Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Qaidam Basin. The naming section is located east of the Lulehe (Aolaohe) structure at Da Qaidam Township, Qaidam basin, Qinghai. Named by Zhu Xia in 1956.
Lithology and Thickness
A sequence of piedmont diluvial deposits, consisting mainly of purplish red and grayish brown conglomerate and pebbly sandstone, with sandstone, clayey-calcareous sandstone and purplish red mudstone. In the upper and lower parts conglomerate predominates, and in the middle part mudstone increases. The total thickness is ~1240 m. The thickness ranges from 330 –1240 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It has an unconformably contact with the underlying Cretaceous Quanyagou Gr.
Upper contact
It has a conformable or locally unconformable contact (on basin margins) with the overlying Ganchaigou Fm.
Regional extent
The formation is mainly distributed at Yuka, Yemagou, Lulehe, Dahonggou and Wuchaigou. In the Delingha basin similar strata are also exposed.

Fossils
The formation yields the ostracods Ilyocypris, Candoniella, Candona, etc., as well as gastropods, bivalves and the charophytes Gyrogona, Hornichara, Charites, etc., in addition to the sporopollen Ephedripites-Meliaceaeoidites-Quercoidites assemblage.
